EYA: European youth in action: shaping up policies and strategies for climate justice

- Energy Transition: Promoting sustainable energy solutions and fair energy policies.
- Greenwashing: Combating misleading environmental claims and encouraging transparency.
- Biodiversity: Protecting biodiversity and ecosystem services for a sustainable planet.
The main objectives are:
- Empowering youth: Enhancing the skills and knowledge of young people for active participation in climate actions.
- Impact on policies: Enabling the exchange of views between young people and decision-makers in the EU on climate justice.
- Raising awareness: Increasing public awareness of EU values and climate justice issues, as well as the role of young people in addressing them.
The project plans to:
- Develop the expertise of organizations in involving young people in climate decision-making in the EU.
- Increase the knowledge and understanding of European youth about EU values and climate justice.
- Enhance the skills of young people to undertake concrete climate justice actions.
- Develop the understanding of organizations and institutions about the views of young people regarding climate justice issues.
By engaging thousands of young people across Europe, EYA makes a significant contribution to the global climate justice movement and the spread of EU values.
EYA is a project co-financed by the European Union.
- Young people aged 18–25, particularly those interested in climate justice, sustainable development, and civic activism.
- Civil society organizations (CSOs) working with youth and aiming to improve their capacity to engage them in decision-making processes.
The final beneficiaries are:
- Young people (18–25 years old) who will gain knowledge about climate justice, EU values, and ways to take action.
- Civil society organizations that will improve their methods of engaging youth in ecological and democratic processes.
- Decision-makers (EU institutions and national institutions) who will receive recommendations from young people on climate justice, potentially influencing policy creation.
The general public, who will be sensitized through campaigns and events on topics such as energy transition, greenwashing, and biodiversity.
- Workshops: Empowering young people with the skills and knowledge to act in the field of climate justice.
- Volunteer Camps: Involving young people in practical ecological projects and community initiatives.
- Campaigns: Mobilizing young people to advocate for climate justice through various campaigns.
- National Youth Climate Meetings: A platform for young people to discuss their ideas and develop policy recommendations.
International Youth Climate Meeting: Analyzing and systematizing the views of young people into final recommendations, which will be presented to 20 representatives of the European Union.
The project is coordinated by the Italian environmental organization Legambiente, and alongside YRS, the project partners include environmental organizations and civil society organizations: De Amicitia (Spain), Youth Environment Europe (Czech Republic), European Environmental Bureau/BEE (Belgium), and Allianssi Youth Exchanges (Finland).
