Introductory training marks the start of new ECO SYSTEM projects empowering civil society for stronger environmental protection across Serbia.

From June 9–11, 2025, Young Researchers of Serbia organized a three-day Introduction training at Silver Lake for civil society organizations supported in the fifth cycle of the ECO SYSTEM supporting programme for civil society in environmental protection.

The goal of the training was to provide participants with the knowledge and skills necessary for the successful implementation of their projects – from project management and financial reporting to community engagement, public policy monitoring, and improving the visibility of their activities.

On the first day, organizations presented their projects and got to know each other through joint activities, creating space for networking and future cooperation among actors from different parts of Serbia. The second day focused on presenting the structure and expectations of the program itself, along with workshops on gender equality and institutional transparency, where participants discussed with experts the challenges faced by civil society and local communities. The final day was dedicated to legal aspects of nature protection and the role of citizens in decision-making, through the analysis of concrete examples from practice.

The training marked the beginning of a six-month project implementation period, during which mentoring support will be available to the organizations, with the goal of strengthening their capacities and achieving long-term impact at the local level and beyond. Through this, the ECO SYSTEM supporting programme provides a valuable contribution to building a stronger and more influential civil society in the field of environmental protection.
