DIVA – Diversity and Inclusion in Volunteering Activities

The DIVA – Diversity and Inclusion in Volunteering Activities project aims to support organisations in developing new tools and working methods to assess and improve the quality and impact of inclusion in international and local volunteering activities, such as volunteer camps, Erasmus+ and ESC mobility activities.
Building on the experience and results of previous projects, the partner organisations are developing new methodologies and practical tools to enable more young people from marginalised groups and young people with fewer opportunities to take part in local and international volunteering experiences.
At the same time, the project supports local organisations, volunteering activity organisers and camp leaders in strengthening their capacities to create more accessible, inclusive and high-quality volunteering experiences.
Target groups include:
All participants involved in volunteering activities, including:
- organisations that organise and coordinate local and international volunteering activities;
- volunteer camp organisers and camp leaders;
- host organisations and local partners;
- volunteers and young people, particularly young people with fewer opportunities and those from marginalised groups.
End beneficiaries include:
- International organisations involved in volunteer camps and the training of camp leaders, volunteers and camp organisers.
- Camp leaders and camp organisers, who will gain new knowledge and practical tools for organising more inclusive volunteering activities.
- The wider public, who will be informed about inclusion in volunteering through campaigns and events.
As part of the project, the partner organisations are developing and testing practical tools and methodologies to improve the inclusiveness and accessibility of volunteering activities. Activities implemented in Austria, the Czech Republic, Italy and Serbia include:
- National training courses: Support camp leaders and organisers in developing knowledge and approaches to improve inclusion at volunteer camps.
- International training courses: Bring together camp leaders and organisers from partner countries to exchange experiences and develop joint tools and approaches for more inclusive volunteering activities.
- Volunteer camps: Provide opportunities to test and apply the tools and approaches developed to improve inclusion in practice.
Project results:
Practical tools and methodologies for assessing and improving the inclusiveness and accessibility of volunteering activities, as well as educational materials for organisers and camp leaders, have been developed and tested.
