Youth are the law – National volunteering program 2024

For more than a decade, the Young Researchers of Serbia have been working hard to promote volunteer activities among young people. In addition to engaging in working groups for the Volunteering Law, actively advocating for the implementation of volunteering standards, and improving programs, we are also working to ensure that all our volunteer activities directly contribute to the Action Plan of the Youth Strategy. In this, the most significant role is played by the program “Youth are the Law 2024.”

In collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism and Youth, the main donor of the program, and in accordance with the approved budget, the Young Researchers of Serbia will organize support for the organizers of national and international volunteer camps, as well as the program for supporting informal groups, “Šta nam teško” (What’s Hard for Us). This program is implemented within the informal network of youth support organizations, which includes the Center for Civic Engagement (CEGRAD) from Obrenovac, the Vojvodina Gorski Movement from Sremski Karlovci, GM Optimist from Gornji Milanovac, and Team 42 from Leskovac. We must also not forget the support of our international volunteer camp network partner, “Alliance,” with whom we exchange over 400 volunteers annually.

The main idea of this program is to promote the importance of volunteering, affirm the value of volunteer work, and improve the volunteering program in our country.

Our motto: “Think big, do at least a little, start an avalanche!” is precisely there to support young people in carrying out volunteer activities in their communities, making them stronger and more motivated for greater changes.

  • Young people as drivers of change in local communities;
  • Organizations and associations active in their local communities.
  • Volunteers from more than 30 countries around the world
The “Youth Are the Law” program aims to promote volunteering among young people and empower them to be the drivers of change in their community through the following activities:

  • Organizing 13 national and international volunteer work camps across Serbia;
  • Providing mentorship and financial support for local volunteer “Šta nam teško” actions, with around 40 planned for this year;
  • Enhancing the project’s digital platform and promoting activities on social media to ensure the impact on the personal development of volunteers and the local community reaches every young person in Serbia.

YRS is the lead on this project financed by the Ministry of tourism and youth, cooperating with Pokret Gorana Vojvodine, Tim 42, Cegrad and GM Optimist. Alongside them, we count on our local partners for hosting workcamps.
